Marvel's new Spider-Man reboot is one of the most-anticipated comic book movies in quite a while; all those who were disappointed in Sony's previous Amazing Spider-Man films, with Andrew Garfield starring as the famous comic-book wall-crawler, may finally have the Peter Parker they've always dreamed (also, it can't be denied that Marvel Studios' humor- in films like Guardians of the Galaxy- is a perfect fit for the wisecracking Peter Parker).
And while recent reports have placed the new Spider-Man film as not appearing onscreen until 2017, here's another new detail you might have missed: it's also being rumored that the film might not be set until after Infinity War, the massive, two-part film event that will be the capstone of Marvel's Phase Three.
If this is true, it immediately tells us several things about Spider-Man's place in the Marvel universe, and in his upcoming film remake. For one, if Spider-Man doesn't take place until after Infinity War, we know that Spider-Man won't be appearing in Infinity War at all. Second, it's also not particularly likely that any of the other cast members from the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be appearing in the upcoming 2017 Spider-Man remake, as their presence might spoil events that would happen post-Infinity War in the continuity. Which would mean that a recet plot rumor- that the film would be about Spider-Man auditioning to join the Avengers- is probably off the table. Presumably, prominent Avengers cast members may die in Infinity War. If that's the case, there's no way Spider-Man would spoil those plot details years ahead of time.
And while cast rumors still surge about who will play Peter Parker in the new Spider-Man film, several names have popped up online. Two prominent ones would be Dylan O'Brien and Mateus Ward. However, Andrew Garfield's recent breakup with Emma Stone may mean he's not on the table anymore.
