OnePlus Two Latest Updates: 2015 Launch Going as Planned; Cyanogen Out, Oxygen OS In; Fingerprint Scanner Eyed

By

For starters, OnePlus is one of a kind. With smartphone powerhouse Apple and Samsung going at it in a fierce battle for supremacy, one winning in class the other in mass, and big satellite manufacturers Sony, LG, HTC cutting their own share of the pie, it's hard to imagine smaller phone-makers making a splash in the market. But OnePlus not only pulled it off, it made a mark with its successful OnePlus One launch and marketing savvy - quality phones at less money.

At the heels of such success, many are wondering if 2015 will ever see OnePlus Two but Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus, confirmed on twitter that there are no delays for the OnePlus new flagship product and that all is set for a Q3, 2015 launch.

That should mean that we'd be seeing the workings of OnePlus custom Oxygen OS, Samsung S6-like premium looks - including a fingerprint scanner.

A Good Run for OnePlus One

It must have been OnePlus CEO Pete Lau's comment on Weibo complimenting on how the OnePlus One could remain competitive for the whole stretch of 2015 that sparked the delayed launch rumors.

Luckily, co-founder Carl Pei put everything to rest. Speaking in CES 2015 he reiterated - without citing a specific date - that OnePlus Two is coming out and when it does OnePlus One will be sold at discounted price.

Further, the Chinese top gun elaborated that India will be one of the first countries to enjoy initial release of the OnePlus upgrade.

To note, OnePlus One launched on the 25th of last year becoming available for Asian and European countries first before the US.

Enough with Cyanogen

According to gizchina.com a lot of outstanding features await OnePlus Two fans namely: a Snapdragon 810 processor, 4 GB of RAM and a 3,300 mAh battery.

Snapdragon along with 4GB RAM only spells a performance powerhouse OnePlus device.

And we may be in for a lot of surprises as Carl Pei stated size of the new OnePlus would "surprise" consumers without spilling the details.

According to knowyourmobile, the OnePlus Two will be classier than its predecessor, leaning towards the overall feel of a Samsung Galaxy S6 and featuring a metal frame.

Like the S6, OnePlus Two will boast of a fingerprint scanner.

But one feature that should be outstanding about the OnePlus Two is that OnePlus is finally ditching Cyanogen OS. Instead the Chinese tech titan is coming out with its own in-house platform, an Android-based OS dubbed Oxygen OS.

That should give OnePlus Two hopefuls a lot more happy thoughts than usual and they shouldn't bother if the product comes out a little more expensive than its older brother.
