‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 5: George R.R. Martin Says He Has No ‘Right To Veto Or Approval’ On Which Character Gets Killed Next

By

"Game Of Thrones" writer, George R.R. Martin said that he does not have any control over which character gets killed next on the popular HBO series. The show is bound to return on television for season five and fans are already speculating over rumors that a major character gets killed in the upcoming season.

"I consult on this, so I give my opinions, but I don't have any right to veto or approval," Martin told The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the "A Song of Fire and Ice" author, his books have a huge number of characters, but the show, unfortunately, cannot afford to cast that many. Martin cited the deaths of Pyp and Grenn on season four were necessary for the show in order to get an "emotional response because the viewer knows who they are."

The popular HBO series is known for deviating from the book's storyline and killing some of its characters, which have been well and alive in Martin's books. The outlet noted that Robb Stark's wife, Talisa was killed in season three even though her character lived on through the end of the book.

A key "Game Of Thrones" star also revealed to EW (via Cinema Blend) that she was filming for season five when she suddenly realized that the book no longer tallies with the series. The star initially thought she had more scenes to film at the beginning of the series, but the star's agent informed him or her that he or she had less than was expected.

"The showrunners rang me and told me, 'Your time is up in the series,'" the mystery actor or actress recalled. According to the outlet, the mysterious actor or actress whose character gets killed on season five is someone who plays a major role in the series, enough to star in his or her very own trailer.

"Game Of Thrones" Season 5 premieres this Sunday, April 12 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
