The developer behind "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" is looking to separate itself from the rest of the well-known gaming companies by promising their fans "meaningful content" inside their paid downloadable content packs.
CD Projekt Red co-founder Marcin Iwinski has already regarded these two new additions as true expansions and unlike what constitutes most downloadable content out on the market today, according to IGN.
"We remember the time when add-on disks truly expanded games by delivering meaningful content. As gamers, we'd like to bring that back. We've said in the past that if we ever decide to release paid content, it will be vast in size and represent real value for the money. Both our expansions offer more hours of gameplay than quite a few standalone games out there," said the company in a statement released alongside the announcement of the expansion packs.
The company has also said that the expansion packs are meant to add more than 30 hours of gameplay, and if that holds true, then that would be a significant improvement over the usual three to five hours of additional content most paid DLC packs provide, according to Forbes.
Since those smaller scale DLC packs normally retail of around $15 to $20, CD Projekt Red's offering retailing at $25 for the entire expansion pass would present greater bang for people's bucks.
Gamers can also opt to buy the expansion packs separately. The "Hearts of Stone" expansion pack will be available for $9.99 while the "Blood and Wine" is expected to be on sale for $19.99, according to Den of Geek.
It's also worth noting that aside from the two paid expansion packs, CD Projekt Red will still release minor DLC additions which will be free of charge, according to PC Gamer.
"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" will make its debut on May 19 for the PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
