Castle is closing the book on season 7 in a few more episodes and fans cannot wait to see what is in store for writer Richard Castle and Detective Katherine Beckett. In the following episodes, viewers will come across an old conundrum from the beginning of the season and a showrunner tells fans what to expect in the last few episodes.
Castle's writers have seem to have forgotten the mystery that started the season, the one where Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) disappeared just moments before he and Katherine Beckett (Stana Katic) got married, which was a heartbreaking moment for fans. However, in the twentieth episode "Sleeper", we might find out what really happened to Castle.
However, we might not even get all of the answers in the twentieth episode, possibly because they are saving that for their finale when a psychiatrist comes to help Rick bring back those memories he repressed or was forced to repress.
While the penultimate episode is going to be a "buoyant, classic episode", according to showrunner David Amann, the finale will be a captivating and exciting episode. Should the mystery be solved? What if Castle is better off forgetting about what happened during that two-month disappearance? What if upon finding out, they are not prepared for the consequences?
Though that is stressful as it is, fans of the show have bigger things to worry about since neither Katic nor Fillion have renewed their contracts for an eight season. It could be one thing for Beckett to exit the show but if Castle leaves too, what would the show's title even mean anymore?
Amann did not give a straight answer when asked about the future of Castle saying "We're hopeful that everything gets resolved. In the meantime, we're just building the best end of the season that we can. Obviously, we've thought about a bunch of different scenarios, but our main obligation is to our audience and to deliver great shows. That's what we'll be trying to do, and we think we have a bunch of them lined up all the way to the end."
