Activision confirms 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 3'; Game's future to include zombies?

By

After months of speculation, Activision has finally decided to officially confirm that "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" will be the newest addition to their popular franchise.

The news doesn't really come as a surprise as rumors of Activision releasing the game were popping up earlier in the year, but the official release is always a special time for loyal fans of the franchise.

Treyarch Studios is also reprising its role as the game's lead developer, according to Gamespot. Unsurprisingly, with the company coming back to work on the franchise's latest installment, they are also looking to bring back some of the latter version's more popular features.

Zombies mode is coming back, and it figures to be bigger and better than ever.

It's worth noting that neither Activision nor Treyarch Studios have confirmed the popular game mode will be a part of the latest game, but thanks to the work of an intrepid fan going by the name of "Charlie Intel," details about zombies are indeed part of the source code on the official "Call of Duty" website, according to IGN.

Aside from the zombies, other details unearthed in that little patch of source code could be pointing to where the next game may be set.

According to some lines in the code, the game will take place in a "dark, twisted" future. It also says that military-grade robots are part of the war.

If the next setting for the "Black Ops" is indeed a dystopian future infested with robots, it does make sense given the timeline of the first two titles.

The original "Black Ops" title took place mainly during the Vietnam War, while the second game was set in the year 2025, according to MP 1st.

Activision has not shared any further details about the game, but more should be known when it is officially revealed on April 26.
