With the significant amount of changes that has been done in "Insurgent," the second film adaptation of the "Divergent" series, it seems that even the author of the "Divergent" series Veronica Roth has no idea how the screenwriters of "Divergent: Allegiant" Part 1 and 2 will handle the remaining movie adaptations. Shailene Woodley and Theo James may get another intimate scene.
Loyal fans of the "Divergent" franchise must have exited cinemas while scratching their heads after watching a different "Insurgent." In order to fit the story (or some parts of it) of the book into the movie, the screen players decided to take out some parts from the book and twist its major plots, almost completely diverting from its source material.
In an interview, author Veronica Roth was transparent enough to admit that she also was a bit surprised by the "mystery box" in the movie. Originally, a hard drive contains the vital message about the faction system. In the movie however, it was replaced by a box that can only be opened by the "chosen one" (hint: Tris). But Roth was quick to switch gears and said that after learning that "Insurgent" will be adapted, she knew that there will be a lot of changes since it is the most complicated book in the series plot-wise.
With regard to the two-part adaptation of "Divergent: Allegiant," Roth said that she still has no idea if the remaining adaptations will be faithful to the third book given the changes that happened in the "Insurgent" movie. There were also petitions to create a different ending in the movie since the book's conclusion is devastating for some.
Expectations are high for "Divergent: Allegiant" Part 1 not because they have to top the success (more like the controversy) of "Insurgent" but because the fans are wondering how the changes in the second adaptation will work out for "Allegiant." If the screenwriters once again decide twist major parts of the third book and fail, then that would be a problem for "Allegiant" Part 2 that even the romantic Shailene Woodley and Theo James chemistry or another intimate scene between Tris and Tobias can't solve.
"Divergent: Allegiant" Part 1 will premiere on 2016 but author Veronica Roth and fans of the book series are not sure how it will turn out especially with the changes that the "Insurgent" movie brought to the table.
What do you think will happen in "Allegiant"? Should the writers add more changes or stick to the book? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
