Sofia Boutella is the newest addition in the stellar cast of "Star Trek 3" and fans started to speculate about her possible character in the science fiction franchise. Will she be one of the good guys this time or will she enjoy being on the bad side once again as the Romulan Commander?
Latest reports about "Star Trek 3" include the addition of Kingsman actress Sofia Boutella in the reboot. The Algerian-French actress did an impressive performance in Kingsman: The Secret Service as Gazelle, the woman with artificial legs, which probably helped her land a huge role in the upcoming "Star Trek" movie.
Anxious fans of the saga were quick to guess about Sofia Boutella's role in the film. Simon Pegg, the creative director of "Star Trek 3" along with Doug Jung, previously clarified that Klingons won't appear in the third franchise. With this, diehards thought that Romulans will be the antagonists of the movie and Boutella could be one of them or even their woman leader. The Romulan Commander appeared in "The Enterprise Incident" episode of the third-season of the "Star Trek" television series. If this proves to be true, then it looks like the third sequel will be more faithful to the "Star Trek" roots.
Fans of the science fiction franchise were quite disappointed in the "Star Trek Into Darkness" storyline that is why Simon Pegg and Doug Jung will try to remain true to its story.
"For me it's now about the spirit of adventure and exploration and also, in modern terms, just how would that be for people, to be away for that amount of time and that kind of stuff," Pegg said in an interview. "We're trying to evolve the story at the same time as not letting it go," he added.
Sofia Boutella will be one of the new faces that in "Star Trek 3" slated to premiere on July 2016. How her character will affect the movie is something that fans should watch out for.
