Director Bryan Singer gave information of recent "mutations" from the X-Men: Apocalypse camp. This time via an Instagram post, revealing that "geek" goddess and tv presenter Olivia Munn will be playing Psylocke in the sequel to 2013's X-Men Days of Future Past.
The welcoming news which was posted last Monday will mean that the thirty-four-year-old actress will be joining newcomers Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Lana Condor as Jubilee, Kodi Smith-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as Storm and Oscar Isaac as the main antagonist Apocalypse. This won't be the first time that "The Newsroom" actress will be a part of a superhero movie as she had a minor role in Iron Man 2. Returning for the said sequel are Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Nicholas Hoult (Beast) and Rose Byrne (Moira MacTaggert).
Other actresses have also portrayed Psylocke aka Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock. Mei Melancon portrayed the role in X-Men: The Last Stand and Priyanka Chopra was also greatly deemed to play the part in "The Wolverine". However, the mutant known for her martial arts skills and telepathy was ultimately cut from the screenplay when "The Wolverine" began its principal photography which coincidentally happened in Singer's 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Lawrence, meanwhile, in an interview last month for Variety dropped a bomb to the public that this will be her last film for the X-Men franchise.
"It is my last one," Lawrence said when asked if it would be her final "X-Men" film.
Nevertheless, screenwriter Simon Kinberg via Cinemablend, guaranteed fans that: "The relationship between Beast and Mystique is a really interesting one that we didn't have a lot of time to explore in 'Days of Future Past' so we'll have an opportunity to do more of that in 'Apocalypse,"
