iPhone 7 Release Could Feature 4K IGZO display According to Apple's Recent Partner

By

Apple has not yet given official announcements about their product releases. However, one of the company's partners has unveiled an 806 ppi display that could fit in a 5.5-inch phablet. Consequently, speculations surfaced that Apple might introduce an iPhone with a 4K IGZO display, since Apple and Sony are partners. Hence, a different iPhone 7 could emerge this year.

Sharp recently announced that they would mass-produce a 4K IGZO display in 2016. The display showed an overwhelming 3840 x 2160 resolution, which could rival Samsung's 4K AMOLED screen in the Galaxy Note 5. Sharp has been providing IGZO displays to certain Apple products, with rumors saying that the iPad Pro could come out with IGZO screens. Further, it is reportedly not surprising if Apple would release iPhones that have 4K screens supplied by Sharp, especially in the rumored iPhone 7.

Rumors about the features of iPhone 7 included:

  • Infrared: Both Galaxy S5 and S6 have infrared blasters; thus, making the devices as universal remote controls. This feature could also come out in the next iPhone version since Apple is speculated to release a television set.
  • Wireless charging: This spec is becoming a standard in the smartphone industry. Thus, Apple might be obliged to have this feature included in the upcoming device.
  • Waterproofing: Apple was promoting health-related functions in their Apple Watch, with the iPhone as a companion to the smartwatch. Therefore, a waterproofing in the smartphone would reportedly "make sense."
  • A9 processor: Samsung has recently confirmed that they will produce A9 chips for Apple's next-generation devices.
  • Increased battery life: This is highly expected by iPhone users as it is considered as "the bane of every iPhone user." This might be addressed as Apple was seen offering battery-related jobs.
  • Sapphire glass: Media reports said that "the iPhone 6 was not the sturdiest device" that the company has ever made. Consequently, Apple may ensure that the iPhone 7 be durable than the company's previous iPhone versions.
  • Better camera: A dual-lens in the iPhone 7 excites various users, especially that an optical image stabilization could be included in the device.
  • Force Touch: This was tipped by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who claimed that "the next-generation iPhone will have a FPC-made capacitive Force Touch sensor under the backlight, laminated with metal shielding." He also added that "the change may be significant enough for Apple to call its next iPhone the 'iPhone 7' instead of the so-called 'iPhone 6s.'"

Considering Apple's release pattern, the iPhone 7 could be available in September this year.
