Android Lollipop Update Roundup: Samsung Galaxy S5 under U.S. Cellular Gets Android 5.0.1, Galaxy S5 under AT&T Gets Android 5.0

Samsung has been in the frontline for Android Lollipop updates these days as more and more of its Galaxy devices have started receiving upgrades. Galaxy phones currently in the Android zone include Galaxy S5 under AT&T and U.S. Cellular.

Galaxy S5 under AT&T has finally received the Android 5.0 Lollipop update following versions from Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile. AT&T Galaxy S5's Android 5.0 upgrade is 1.4GB and can be downloaded over-the-air (OTA). If not notified automatically, head over to Settings > About device > Software device > Check for updates > OK > Continue > Done.

Verify the updated stock firmware by going to Settings > About device. The base band should now be G900AUCUcBOC4 while the build number is LRX21T.G900AUCU3BOC4.

Android 5.0 Lollipop will bring the following changes and additions to Galaxy S5.

  • Songs, photos, apps, and even recent searches from one Android device can be immediately enjoyed across all of your Android devices.
  • New User Interface look and feel, more fluid motions
  • Priority mode to only allow certain notifications to get through
  • Battery saving features and remaining time left to charge or deplete indicators
  • Smart Lock to secure phone or tablet by pairing it with a trusted device like a wearable or car
  • Most frequently used settings available with just two swipes down from the top screen

Meanwhile, Galaxy S5 under U.S. Cellular goes a step higher than AT&T as its version is getting already the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update. The upgrade can be downloaded via OTA update or Samsung Kies software. To download via OTA update, head over to Settings > About device > Software update > OK > Follow onscreen instructions. To download via Samsung Kies, connect device to USB cable > Open Kies > Click firmware upgrade > Follow onscreen instructions.

Android 5.0 Lollipop will bring the following features and changes to Galaxy S5 under U.S. Cellular.
