Android Lollipop Update Roundup: AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 Gets 5.0.1, AT&T Galaxy Note 4 Gets Android 5.0 & More

Samsung surely is attentive to consumer needs as it has been the pushing Android Lollipop updates before any other smartphone brands in the market can release them. Galaxy S4 under AT&T now gets the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop, while Galaxy Note 4 gets the Android 5.0.

While Galaxy S4 under AT&T was the last mobile carrier to launch the Android 5.0 update, it recovers integrity as it is the first carrier to push forward the Android 5.0.1 for Galaxy S4 devices. It came first even before its version of Galaxy S5 got the same update.

The Android 5.0.1 Lollipop upgrade is only 974MB. The update will bring new features brought first by Android 5.0, plus additional highlights in bug fixes, battery performance and overall system improvements. Here's the full list of improvements as suggested by AT&T's support page.

  • Songs, photos, apps and even recent searches from one Android device can be immediately enjoyed across all of your Android devices.
  • New User Interface look and feel, more fluid motions
  • Priority mode to only allow certain notifications to get through
  • Battery saving features and remaining time left to charge or deplete indicators
  • Smart Lock to secure phone or tablet by pairing it with a trusted device like a wearable or car
  • Most frequently used settings available with just two swipes down from the top screen
  • Removal of Code Scanner, Browser Bar and Softcard apps

To manually download the update, head over to Settings > About device > Software device > Check for updates > OK > Continue > Done.

Verify the updated stock firmware by going to Settings > About device. The base band should now be I337UCUGOC3 while the build number is LRX22C.1337UCUGOC3. Meanwhile, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile have kept mum as their S4 devices remain stuck with the Android 5.0.

The Galaxy Note 4 under AT&T now also gets the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Although Samsung did not utter announced the update, many Note 4 owners have reported to several sites that the update is indeed already available to the device.

AT&T is the second mobile carrier to release the update for Galaxy Note devices, following Sprint. Other Samsung Galaxies receiving the same update are S3, Alpha, Mini, Active and Sport.
