Of course, the famous Sam Smith definitely was stung by his recent split with model boyfriend Jonathan Zeizel, but if upcoming shows will give us a glorious hint, the four-time Grammy-awarded British singer is back on his feet and may once again bag a few more awards this year in the US. Apparently, Billboard has added the 22-year-old singer who is also nominated in 13 categories to its notable list of performers at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards.
Together with such famous acts as Nick Jonas and Hozier, the trio of male solo artists will take stage and wow the crowd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 17, Sunday, in a ceremony that will be aired live on ABC.
Nursing a Broken Heart
Early this year in January, Sam Smith, courtesy of Instagram, made public his return to the single life by confirming break-up rumors with his model boyfriend, Jonathan Zeizel.
Posted on January 20, Smith said, "Sometimes you just need to lay in bed with a glass of red wine and a football T shirt and listen to Joni Mitchell." Further, the famous crooner wrote, "It's been a sad day. Beautiful show, but sad day."
On the heels of a joint vacation in Australia - as reported by Idolator - Sam Smith seemed to have the time of his life.
To note, the couple first saw each other on the set of Sam's "Like I Can" video, spending a month afterwards dating.
Finally, the "Stay with Me" singer posted: "I'm an old romantic, that's what they say to me."
Off to the Awards Night
Sam Smith is not just a performer at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards. He is also a finalist in not one but in 13 categories after the release of his debut album, "In the Lonely Hour."
The album climbed to the second spot in the Billboard 200 and spawned three Top 10 hits on the Hot 100: "Stay With Me," "Lay Me Down" and "I'm Not The Only One."
Of course, competition is stiff as he will be squaring off with hit fellow performers for the night: Nick Jonas for his "Jealous" hit, and Hozier with his breakthrough single, "Take me to Church."
Then again, there's Taylor Swift who is coming on strong with 14 entries in 13 categories.
Well, his lucky stars may smile once again this time fresh from his December 2014 Grammy Awards where he bagged four Grammys out of the six nominations.
