An Android 5.0.1 update for Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, Note 4, and S5 are now available for U.S. Cellular and AT&T subscribers. U.S. Cellular released a Lollipop update that brought new features such as multi user support, multi-device support, custom notifications, and many more. While AT&T released an update that brought minor changes such as Update Private Mode settings, EAS fix for encryption bypass, removal of Softcard, and others.
U.S. Cellular has rolled out Android 5.0.1 updates for Samsung Galaxy Note Edge (base band version N915R4TYU1BOC5), Galaxy Note 4 (base band version N910R4TYU1BOC4), and Galaxy S5 (base band version G900R4VXU1BOC1). There are two options to get the upgrade. The first option is to update without having to use the USB cable. However, each device must be registered to a Google account, and has to be connected to Wi-Fi download the update. Once these requirements are met, users can go to settings and select About Device>Software Update>OK, then follow the on-screen prompt.
The second option is to update by using Samsung Kies and a USB cable. Users will have to download the Samsung Kies and follow these instructions:
1. Connect the device to the computer using the USB cable. Firmware upgrades are available only when the device is connected by USB.
2. Open Kies. When a new version of firmware is available, a notice will be seen on the Basic information tab
3. Click Firmware upgrade to start the upgrade process.
4. Users will be taken through the backup process to preserve all of their data.
U.S. Cellular has provided links to download the Samsung Kies.
The update will bring new features for U.S. Cellular Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, Note 4, and S5 devices such as multi user support, multi-device support, custom notifications, smarter charging, and enhanced performance.
AT&T also had a small update that is being released right now for device owners of Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The upgrade brought minor changes and fixes such as Update Private Mode settings, EAS fix for encryption bypass, removal of Softcard, Emergency Dial fix related to Lookout and Mobile Locate, and Google Security Patches. It also comes with a build number LRX22C.N910AUCU1COC2, and is just 143 MB in size. Users can have the update by a Wi-Fi connection. Further, it may take some days for the update to be downloadable for all AT&T Galaxy Note 4 device owners.
