Android 5.0/5.0.2/5.1 Lollipop updates and factory image for Nexus 4, HTC Desire Eye, Desire 816, and Butterfly S now available

HTC Desire Eye, Desire 816, and Butterfly S have just received an Android 5.0/5.0.2 update offering new features and improvements such as Sense 6.5. Meanwhile, Nexus 4 devices can now have the Android 5.1 LMY470 factory image file.

HTC UK recently announced the official release of the latest Android 5.0 update for two of its devices: Desire Eye and Desire 816. The Lollipop upgrade reportedly brings new features and performance improvements, and it will push the Sense version into Sense 6.5. The 7.0 launcher will not be seen; however, it will be released on a later date, probably included in the Android 5.1.

Owners of HTC Butterfly S and Desire Eye devices in Taiwan will reportedly receive the Android 5.0.2 upgrade, with other regions receiving the update soon. However, device owners in the U.S. may have to wait for releases from their respective mobile carriers such as AT&T, and Sprint.

A tipper named LlabTooFer said the Lollipop update for the Desire Eye is sized at 1008.9 MB (ROM version 2.19.709.1), while the Butterfly S goes at 708.86 MB (ROM version 5.16.709.3). Owners will find new features and functionality in their devices such as Material Design; Improved Lockscreen; TouchWiz; Floating Action Button; Interruption; and Recents.

Meanwhile, Google recently released an official Factory Image file of the Android 5.1 for all Nexus 4 device owners. The file was reportedly released a day after the official launching of the Android 5.1 OTA Update files, and it gives a new update option for Nexus 4 owners who use custom ROMs on their devices.

It was also noted that installing a factory image will result to losing all the data saved in the device. But users can avoid the 'factory reset' process by editing the 'flash-all.bat' script using a workaround, given that the device is on stock ROM. Further, the installation of the factory image can serve as a repairing method in case the Nexus 4 was bricked, lagged, or has a number of 'force close' errors.

In addition, flashing the Android 5.1 LMY470 factory image file over any custom ROM will delete all data saved in the Nexus 4, and restore it to its original state. This is because the 'factory image' is a duplicate of the original stock Android 5.1 and did not have any alterations. Here is the download link.
