The Blade Runner sequel has been percolating for years and for fans of the first installment, the latest news should be a good sign. Ryan Gosling is reportedly in talks with Alcon Entertainment to star in the sci-fi movie. If everything is ironed out between the two parties, Gosling will be joining Harrison Ford who is already onboard for the sequel. Ford who will be returning as Han Solo in the latest Star Wars movie will reprise his role as bounty hunter Rick Deckard.
Other names have already been attached to the upcoming Blade Runner Sequel. Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve has been tabbed to direct the sequel which will be set decades after the events in the 1982 film. Ridley Scott meanwhile who directed the first movie is set to join the project this time as an executive producer. Hampton Fancher and Michael Green wrote the story for the sequel which is rumored to base around Gosling's character chasing Ford's. The story was written following the idea for the sequel by Fancher and Scott, Fancher also co-wrote the story for the first Blade Runner movie.
The original movie's plot revolves around a bounty hunter who must pursue four replicants who are bound for Earth aboard a stolen spaceship. The movie has been praised by critics and is considered an iconic film for its genre. While critically acclaimed, it did not fare very well on the box office for its $28 million budget.
Fans of the first movie will have to wait a little longer as even Ryan Gosling is not yet officially casted. Also, a sneak peek into what the world will look like is a long way away as shooting is slated to start in summer of 2016.With this development though, it looks as if the project is gaining steam and more news will soon surface who will join Ford and possibly Gosling.
