Lara Croft will be back once again to bring us her own brand of action/adventure this fall with the launch of Rise of the Tomb Raider brought to us by Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix. Tomb Raider Creative Director Noah Hughes recently spoke with Game Informer in an interview to shed some new light on what fans can expect with the latest installment to the Tomb Raider franchise.
The 2013 reboot to Tomb Raider was received with resonating success, and this year, Rise of the Tomb Raider promises an even bigger and better adventure. Rise of the Tomb Raider will feature an even more improved upgrade system that are essential for Lara Croft's character development and progress throughout the game.
Weapons upgrades that require a specific type of animal like a Siberian Tiger will rely heavily on how Lara Croft will be able to hunt and track the animal. The game takes into account the location, weather conditions, even time of day in order for the hunt to be successful. The virtual reality of the game strongly reflects actual reality that gives gameplay an even more exhilarating, realistic adventure. The game also promises more in game puzzles for players to solve, more secret tombs and hidden crypts for players to discover.
Rise of the Tomb Raider will showcase Lara Croft's development and characterization. Hughes gives emphasis that this time around, Lara is not exactly happy with killing off her enemies, rather, she is more intent on surviving than anything else. Hughes expresses importance in that Lara Croft is not misconstrued in being portrayed as a cold blooded killer. As a character, it is necessary for her to kill her enemies or certain animals in order for her to survive the harsh environment she finds herself in.
In more recent news, Crystal Dynamics announced the soft launch of a new mobile running application adventure game which features Lara Croft called Relic Run. The game is set in a Temple Run-like mechanics, with a more prominent emphasis on acrobatic running, vehicles, even combat and boss fights. The new mobile application is now available in the Netherlands for mobile iOS and Android devices in the hopes that fans will be able to give valuable feedback prior to the official launch of the game worldwide.
Rise of the Tomb Raider will be released for Xbox One and Xbox 360 fall of this year.
