"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" is now closer than ever to being offically released, and with the game going gold, the excitement has only continued to rise. The announcement was made just recently by the game's developer, CD Projekt Red.
Just for the sake of clarity, the game going gold means that it is now completed and is now moving on to the next step, which is manufacturing, according to IGN. Despite the news, it's worth noting that going gold in this era of game development does not mean the same as it did perhaps even just a few years ago.
According to Lazygamer, going gold these days simply means that most of the game is completed, but not exactly 100 percent of it. It's now normal for developers to continue tweaking the game even after it has gone gold. This is in opposition as to how it was before, when going gold meant the entire game was finished, and all that's left was to transfer the data into discs.
The announcement still holds more meaning in particular for "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" if only because of the stumbling blocks and delays that plagued the game during the development process, according to Gamespot. It's also not just the fans who are excited over the news of "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" going gold.
"We worked so damn hard over the past three years to bring you this game," said CD Projekt Red boss Adam Badowski.
The size of the game has also been revealed for the Xbox One and Playstation 4. For the Playstation 4, players are advised to free up 35GB of space for the game, while Xbox One owners are being told to save 30.4GB of space for it. The long-awaited "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" will be launched on May 19 for the PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
