Graphics comparison between PS4 and Xbox one has been going on since both consoles hit the market a few years ago. However, as game developers hone their skills in optimizing their games to both consoles, graphics alone won't be the deciding factor for choosing the best console.
Gearnuke along with other game critics like Gamespot and IGN have all posted comparisons between PS4 and Xbox One and it clearly shows that both are almost the same. Though PS4 recently have encountered graphical issues lately, but was easily patched up.
However, games do not become great just because of graphics alone, so do consoles.
The Xbox One Parity Clause
In games, graphics comes in third after excellent gameplay and engaging story. However, Xbox One is missing out on great games, especially Indie games because of its controversial "parity clause." This is the major thing that makes Xbox One a bit inferior to PS4 in a game developer's eyes.
The Parity clause simply states that Indie games planning to release games for Xbox One, must make it a console exclusive or if releasing on multiple platforms, must be all at the same time or release on the Xbox first before releasing to other platforms. If an indie developer releases a game first on PS4, Xbox one will not have the game unless the developer adds something unique.
Chris Charla, Manager of Xbox Indie games said on Gamespot that, "If it's a case where a game is coming out significantly later on Xbox One than another console, in that case we just ask them to add something to the game that makes it fresh for Xbox players,"
PS4 on the other hand do not have such a clause, thus opening the doors of opportunity for every Indie game developer to make a name for themselves. Because of this simple comparison, putting aside superficial visual aesthetics, PS4 is far better compared to Xbox One, which is practically "closing" the door to Indie developers who cannot afford a big multiplatform release.
