'Revenge' Season 4 Episode 20 Recap: Is Victoria Grayson truly gone?

By

Last week's episode of 'Revenge' Season 4, titled "Burn", raised the stakes by upping the level of intensity on the conflict between Emily Thorne/Amanda Clarke (played by Emily VanCamp) and Victoria Grayson (played by Madeleine Stowe) - and showcased what it means to "go out in a blaze of glory."

Here is a recap of the 20th episode of 'Revenge' Season 4, courtesy of Hypable: "After exposing Emily/Amanda's real identity, Victoria hung out with Louise and Margaux. Maurgaux left after a short argument with Louise, and while the remaining two waited for their driver (with Victoria sending Louise to look for their ride), Victoria was attacked by dressed in an all-black outfit whom she later on stated was Emily. Meanwhile, Emily/Amanda and Jack spend some time together at the real Emily Thorne's grave, whom the latter had the name changed. Emily and Nolan also made up after the latter confronts her for giving him the cold shoulder. Later on, Emily stole the flashdrive from Victoria, which causes the latter to panic upon realizing that she was fooled. The episode ended with Victoria burning the Grayson Manor with her still inside."

It was obvious that Victoria committed that act in order to frame Emily with her murder, but some fans were still not convinced that she was really dead. As with some soap operas, several speculations surfaced that Victoria "somehow" survived the explosion and would come back to cause havoc in Emily/Amanda's life in the future.

In the midst of all the speculations regarding Victoria's fate, actress Madeleine Stowe spoke in an interview with Entertainment Weekly and put to rest all the rumors about whether or not Victoria was still alive:

"I'm not returning to Revenge for another season. You will see her in flashbacks. I think that anybody who has really, really watched the show and who really knows Victoria would know that she's pretty much had a death wish. Victoria has died."

Additionally, Stowe also stated that the future episodes would contain flashbacks of Victoria, explaining what drove her to committing such drastic action on a bigger perspective. Would Victoria's death cause more trouble to Emily/Amanda than she would have if she were still alive?

Fans are sure to find out as they tune in to the last few episodes of 'Revenge' Season 4 which airs Sundays on ABC.
