Of all the comic book superhero movies that were adapted from the Marvel Comics brand, no franchise has ever been rebooted more times than 'The Amazing Spider-Man' film series. Last month, reports surfaced that the movie franchise would once again be rebooted now that Sony has teamed up with Marvel Studios to bring one of the most loved superheroes into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, sat down for an interview with IGN recently to talk about the future of the Spider-man franchise:
"There are so many things that are integral to his character in the comics that haven't been explored yet," Feige stated in the interview. "When he puts that mask on in the comics, he has a nonstop wit, that's almost as troublesome to the bad guys he's fighting as his webs and agility, and we feel like we haven't seen that in the movies yet."
In addition to this, Feige also stated that what Marvel plans to do with the 'Spider-Man' reboot will be akin to what director Christopher Nolan did with the 'Batman' film franchise starting with 'Batman Begins' - that the movie will explore certain portions of the famous webcrawler's history that all of the previous Spidey movies have not shown the fans before. Feige also reiterated the fact the the reboot is NOT another origin story, but rather would portray Peter Parker as a 15 to 16-year old teenager who already has his powers and is fighting crime in his "homemade" Spider-Man suit. He stated:
"[We want to] spend much more time focusing on this young high school kid in the [Marvel Cinematic Universe] dealing with his powers."
It does sound quite promising for a story reboot, given that many fans are still reeling from the "disappointing" delivery of 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2.' Of course details about the film are still kept under wraps, as the film is scheduled to be released way out on July 28, 2017.
