‘Ant-Man’ Movie News: Paul Rudd hints ‘how stupid’ his superhero movie will be; 'Avengers' Director Joss Whedon, no interest in ‘Ant-Man’

"Ant-Man" star Paul Rudd did an interview recently with David Letterman where he admitted how excited he is for the fans to see "how stupid" the movie will be. Rudd is aware how underrated "Ant-Man" is and even "Avengers" director Joss Whedon shared that he has no initial interest in the movie.

Paul Rudd shared during an interview in The Late Show with David Letterman that he cannot wait for people to see how stupid "Ant-Man" will be, a clear comic remark about his superhero movie. When asked if his family supports him in his new superhero character, Rudd said even his son doesn't know who "Ant-Man" is.

The 46-year old comedian co-wrote the "Ant-Man" script when writer-director Edgar Wright left the film last summer. Rudd, together with Adam McKay, rewrite the script to make it a little more aggressive by adding "cool new action" in the story. In the trailers released recently by Marvel, the fans saw Paul Rudd's comedic chops through Scott Lang's dialogues. Known for being good at improv comedy in his previous movies, Rudd's self-deprecating jokes is quite expected to be seen in the movie.

"Ant-Man" is Marvel's follow up to "Avengers: Age of Ultron," which is directed by Joss Whedon. With that kind of arrangement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 2, Whedon is expected be knowledgeable about the "Ant-Man" story as well. The director however, admitted that he has no interest in the size-shifting superhero at first until he was able to read the script written by Edgar Wright. Whedon was actually saddened about Wright's departure from the movie as he thought the original script is "the best script that Marvel had ever had."

Paul Rudd's funny remarks about his movie "Ant-Man" is just a clear manifestation of his background in comedy. The abrupt departure of writer-director Edgar Wright from the film, allowed Rudd to co-write the film and inject punch lines in it. However, director Joss Whedon is still saddened that the fans won't get to see the original script of "Ant-Man." Will this affect the movie's success? Or is Paul Rudd's punch lines enough to make "Ant-Man" a blockbuster movie?

"Ant-Man" will be capping MCU's Phase 2 on July 17, 2015.
