Android 5.1.1_r5 developer announces the updates at the Android Open Source Project for the "unofficial" build of Euphoria OS for Sony Xperia Z. Although the build is at the beta stage, feedbacks suggest the same is stable and works perfectly with Z2.
Among the features Android 5.1.1_r5 sports are theme chooser updates, add brightness options to Profiles, Torch Tile updates and enhancements during notification shade and during boot animation among others.
Before proceeding with the Xperia Z installation, certain caveats need to be taken into consideration. All important data of the phone needs to be backed up through the custom recovery. The USB Debugging option needs to be enabled by proceeding to: Navigate to Settings -- About Phone.
Then tap Build Number until the message, 'You are now a Developer' appears. As soon as the message is flashed, enable USB Debugging by proceeding to Settings -- Developer Options. Also, the device should be 80% charged to avoid power off in case it takes longer for the debugging to complete.
Furthermore, one needs to bear in mind that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop EuphoriaOS ROM works for Xperia Z2 hence, sporting EuphoriaOS on another device may brick it. From this, it is largely advisable to confirm the model number of the device and to install ROM it aptly in the steps outlined below.
Here is the process to proceed with the Xperia Z to Euphoria OS ROM update based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
To transfer the downloaded Euphoria OS, mount the Xperia Z through USB mount on your PC via the USB cable. Make sure that the phone is rooted and avoid transferring inside any folder in the device. After the transfer is completed, switch the phone off. Then, the Recovery Mode is switched on by pressing Volume Up, Home and Power buttons simultaneously.
As soon as the Recovery Mode is on, a full data wipe or factory reset needs to be turned on; one may use the Power button to select everything in the Recovery Mode. Next the dlavik cache needs to be wiped out and although is step is not essential, this choice is essential to prevent any bootloop or other similar errors. Then, the Euphoria OS file needs to be selected from the sdCard, click confirm installation on the following screen. The same procedure is to be repeated to install the Gapps. The installation is now completed so Select Reboot can now be done by going back to the Recovery Menu.
