'Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward' goes live with DirectX® 11, 1920X1080 HD support; Version 3.1 to launch soon

"FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward" benchmark went live on April 27th based on an announcement by Square Enix on the game's website. "Final Fantasy" PC gamers would be able to download the benchmark in order to test their hardware for the upcoming expansion of the online installment in the "Final Fantasy" franchise.

Sqaure Enix's announcement said that "the official benchmark for 'FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward' is now available! Test the limits of your PC while enjoying the sights and sounds of new areas. A character creation tool is also included, featuring the new Au Ra race. Now is your chance to catch a glimpse of the adventures that await in Heavensward!" "Final Fantasy" PC gamers would just need to click on the link below the announcement in order to download the benchmark.

The benchmark would include actual maps and playable character in the upcoming "FFXIV: Heavensward" and would also assign a score to the gamers' PCs to rate its compatibility with the online game, based on the game's website. For starters, the benchmark would support the 1920X1080 HD display apart from the standard 1080x720 display that was originally supported. Add to that, the benchmark would also support DirectX® 11 apart from the standard DirectX® 9 version.

On the other hand, Square Enix explained on the game's website that the benchmark software would not guarantee that the "FFXIV: Heavensward" would run on the gamers' PCs as the configuration and software in the gamers' PCs should also be taken in to consideration. PC gamers were advised to use the software as reference only.

Meanwhile, PC gamers could also checkout the uploaded "FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward Benchmark Trailer" on the "FINAL FANTASY XIV" YouTube channel. PC gamers would be able to take a glimpse of what to expect in the upcoming "FFXIV: Heavensward" game. The video on the latest expansion in the online installment of the "Final Fantasy" franchise would also include a variety of playable characters with different special abilities and would take the gamers to new maps in the "Final Fantasy" universe.

On the other hand, the version 3.1 for "FINAL FANTASY XIV" would soon be available after the launch of the "Heavensward" expansion, based on a report from Siliconera. "FINAL FANTASY XIV" version 3.1 would include features like a new "24-man raid" and "Gold Saucer attractions;" the update would also include new quests that would be similar to the "Zodiac Weapons."

"FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward" would be set for release on June 23rd with an early access on June 19th for preorders.
