'Blade Runner 2' Updates: Ryan Gosling in negotiations for a role in the film

By

Fans of the 'Blade Runner' series were ecstatic when it was announced that a sequel was in the works way back in 2011. While the development of the film was put on hold for a few more years, with several speculations of whether or not actor Harrison Ford (who was cast in the title role in the 1982 film) was going to be involved in the project, a lot of the film franchise's fans were still hopeful that their favorite sci-fi thriller movie was going to get its deserved sequel.

Fortunately, it was confirmed earlier this year that Ford is indeed going to reprise his role as Rick Deckard in the 'Blade Runner' sequel (through an article published by Den of Geek), which would most likely set the storyline of the movie many years after the original. Ridley Scott, who directed the first Blade Runner film, will return as an executive producer while the helm will be taken over by Denis Villeneueve, who is famous for directing 'Prisoners.' Additionally, it was recently reported that actor Ryan Gosling was in negotiations for a role in the upcoming sequel, although no information has been released as of yet regarding who he will be playing.

There are very few details about 'Blade Runner 2' as the film is not even in pre-production yet. The actual shooting is slated to begin around summer 2016, although it was already confirmed that Hampton Fancher and Michael Green have already made a script for the movie.

More recent news from IGN indicate that 'Blade Runner 2' scriptwriter Michael Green was reportedly hired to write a draft of the script that wil be used in the third 'Wolverine' installment. It is not clear as of yet whether Green is going to simply re-write the original draft made by David James Kelly, or he will make a new one.

'Blade Runner 2' is speculated to hit theaters sometime around 2017 or 2018.
