'The Flash'/'Arrow' spin-off updates: next team-up to be called "Legends?"

By

Crossover episodes between two of CW's very popular superhero TV series, 'Arrow' and 'The Flash' have always been fun and exciting to watch. And if just seeing those superheroes together in one episode was not enough, the producers of both shows have found ways of making these team-ups more interesting through solid storylines.

Everyone who has been following both 'The Flash' and 'Arrow' knows of the plans for a spin-off series that will feature characters from both shows such as Ray Palmer a.k.a. the Atom, Sara Lance's Black Canary, Captain Cold, Mick Rory a.k.a. Heat Wave, and Firestorm. However, what is interesting in this story is not their team-up; but rather, a small tease that was provided by one of the actors in the current series.

John Wesley Shipp, who portrays Barry Allen's father Henry in 'The Flash' (as well as playing the superhero himself in the 1990's run of the show), was in a Comic-Con event recently when he dropped a big teaser regarding the upcoming superhero spin-off series. While speaking to the crowd, Shipp referred to the show as 'Legends,' and added that 13 episodes had already been ordered. (source: Classicalite)

So why is this significant? Any DC comic book fan would immediately recognize the hint given by Shipp in the press conference, but for those who do not have any idea what the craze is about, 'Legends' is a crossover story published by DC Comics in 1986 and 1987 that features a wide plethora of heroes and villains, including the god-like supervillain Darkseid.

So does this mean that fans may see another incarnation of one of DC's biggest baddies on the small screen? Many DC followers remember how Darkseid was given a small amount of live action screen time in the last episode of another hit superhero TV series, 'Smallville.'
