Titanfall 2 Teased by Respawn: Single player campaign in the works; Other exciting reveals at E3

Game developer Respawn recently teased Titanfall 2, their follow up to their spring 2014 first-person shooter game.

"The really nice thing about working on a sequel is we have established the core of what Titanfall is. We have assets, we have an engine, we have all of these things that we laid the foundation for in the first game that now we can really build off of in the second. So I think there's going to be a lot of stuff that people are going to be excited about. And that's all I can say," Respawn Entertainment community manager Abbie Heppe said in an interview.

"No official name yet but we're working on that. That's the main focus but we're starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff, too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow! It'll be multiplatform," Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella said in a separate interview regarding Titanfall 2.

Zampella was most likely to the Xbox and Playstation, as well as PC, regarding the multiplatform since Titanfall was released in the same way. The rest of his statement could be a response to some fans' request to have a single-player campaign mode while still having a more exciting multi-player experience.

"On one hand, there are many players who may prefer campaign experience... it would also add a fun single-player dynamic that most other games offer players. On the other hand, there are many gamers and even developers who question the inclusion of campaigns in FPS... as most players focusing [sic] heavily on the multiplayer aspect... they put fewer resources on the multiplayer experience, where most players spend their time," said GameRant's Boston Blake.

True enough, most players are split on this matter.

"Last year's Titanfall incorporated a storyline into the game's multiplayer that felt a little like a campaign, but failed to capture strong gamer attention and ultimately fell flat," Blake added.

He also noted that there was a fading interest in the current Titanfall. That, despite the fact that new DLCs for the game are free. With the developers already talking about Titanfall 2, some are questioning Electronic Arts' silence on the game. Still, Titanfall 2 already is official, though.

More news and developments are expected regarding Titanfall 2 at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) this coming June.
