Everything Is Set For 'Assassin's Creed Movie' As Filming Starts In September

By

With both an assured release date and production underway this coming fall, the film adaptation of the video game Assassin's Creed has finally gotten out of developmental limbo. The notion for the film started generating in the year 2011, almost more than four years after, it seems the road is no longer unpaved for this project.

Michael Fassbender who has long been attached to the project both as a lead actor and producer recently sat down with Comingsoon.net. The movie as aforementioned has a release date of December 21, 2016 of which principal photography will start in September this year as Fassbender confirmed in the interview.

"You say it's a long time but what I've found-it's all new to me but starting to develop scripts and work on them, they take time," he countered to our mention of the delays in getting the movie made. "It just takes time to get a good story together and we really want to do it right. It's exciting. It's going to start this year; we'll be filming in September."

Fassbender again was more than tact as he kept a tight-lip about the whole premise of the film project. There had also been a lot of rumors brewing that the actor of German and Irish descent will be portraying the titular character of bartender Desmond Miles. The only indisputable piece of information which has well been known is that he will be reunited with both Macbeth director Justin Kurzel and co-star Marion Cotillard.

Assassin's Creed is an acclaimed video game released under Ubisoft and in general is the never-ending struggle between assassins and templars in controlling mankind. The plot of the upcoming movie could come from any of the unique eras in history that are tackled with the use of up-to-date framing device by the game developers; from the taking back of the Holy Land from Saladin to the cultural movement of the Renaissance and to the eve of the political upheaval in France.
