Treyarch's Call of duty black ops 3 is now slowly being considered the most improved in the franchise and developer claims that it is due to their new three-year development cycle. However, what did Treyarch accomplish by spending that amount of time in creating the game?
Improved AI
One of the features Treyarch is proud of is its claim of vastly improving the AI system to provide unique experience with multiple playthroughs. Mark Lamia, Treyarch Studio head said to Game Informer,
"The A.I. system is completely rewritten." Lamia says. "It's adaptive, it has to deal with emergent situations, it has to deal with the variety of different characters that you have. Call of Duty hasn't seen a new A.I. system in a very long time."
New Settings and Themes
Diverging dramatically away from the previous Call of Duty titles, Black Ops 3 takes gamers way into the future were cybernetics reign supreme and technology, which are just theories today have been already made and developed. Because of this new setting, Treyarch added a few "abilities" to the game by showing cybernetic skills that make ordinary people perform amazing feats. Such feats include wall running, which resembles Titanfall, boost jumps, chained melee strikes and more.
Customizable characters
Character choice is one of the most striking Call of Duty firsts done on Black Ops 3. It is the first title in the franchise where gamers can choose the gender, appearance and skill of their characters. Treyarch executives admit that the idea came from Mass Effect's character system. The game also allows full customization of equipment, weapon and even enhancements.
Improved Storyline
One of the major focus of Treyarch, aside from improving game mechanics and features is ensuring a good and riveting story. Lamia said,
"There's no way you're going to experience everything in that area unless you do multiple playthroughs."
Also, the game will have a more open design in its story though they will still have a scripted narrative gamers will go through.
Overall game design improvements
Finally, Treyarch stated that overall improvements on game design needs much iteration that a two-year development is not enough. Much has been improved that maps alone need to be designed multiple times just to ensure quality. Call of Duty Black Ops 3 release date is set on November 6, 2015 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
