Top Gear Season 23 Premiere, Cast Update: Model Jodie Kidd, TV host Guy Martin, actor Philip Glenister replace Jeremy Clarkson's team in Spring next year?

By

A new Top Gear trio with model Jodie Kidd, television host Guy Martin, and actor Philip Glenister has reportedly been chosen to replace the team up of long-time presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May.

The new line up was overheard being discussed by resigned Top Gear co-creator Andy Wilman with Jamiroquai singer Jay Kay in Sussex, reported the Sunday Express.

Kidd has appeared on Top Gear twice and holds one of the show's fastest lap times for star-in-a-reasonably-priced-car challenge. She currently hosts The Classic Car Show on UK's Channel 5. The Telegraph reported the car enthusiast has not confirmed the BBC offer for her to headline the new Top Gear season although she spoke to media in April about the BBC programme changes. "It's going to be interesting, the next couple of months," Kidd was quoted saying, but refused to confirm speculations she was set to replace Clarkson. Kidd, Canadian newspaper baron Lord Beaverbrook's granddaughter, was also seen with Clarkson talking in a cafe after he was suspended from the top-rating car show.

Martin is a television host and a motorcycle racer, appearing at the prestigious Tourist Trophy motorcycle race on the Isle of Man.

Glenister is from Life on Mars, and currently hosts For the Love of Cars on Channel 4 in the UK.

Business Insider refers to the new trio as the BBC "dream team" who will take over the presenter spots vacated by Clarkson who was removed from the show he led for 30 years after an incident with a show producer, and co-hosts May and Hammond who did not renew their contracts when Clarkson was sacked.

Top Gear creator and producer Wilman had also resigned from the show, although reports say he was collaborating with BBC 2 controller Kim Shillingshaw to present the shelved final three episodes of Top Gear Season 22 using footages of Clarkson and his co-presenters.

Top Gear Season 23 is expected to be back on television by spring next year at the earliest.
