Mozilla and Orange made Alcatel's Orange Klif 3G devices on sale recently in Senegal and Madgascar in order to bring the Mobile Web to users across South Africa and Middle East.

Specifications of the phone include 3.5-inch display with 320 x 480 pixels, Firefox OS v2.0, battery that is capable of giving 6 h and 10 min. (3G) on talk time, and many more.

Alcatel Orange Klif on sale in Senegal and Madagascar

Mozilla revealed that the first Firefox OS smartphone just went on sale in Senegal and Madagascar this week. This was first announced from Mozilla and Orange at the Mobile World Congress 2015, which said that Firefox OS smartphones would be available across the African continent and the Middle East later this year.

CTO of Mozilla Andres Gal said, "We are pleased to partner with Orange to bring the Mobile Web to users in substantial number of new growth markets across Africa and the Middle East. I'm also thrilled to see how the imminent arrival of Firefox OS has created excitement in the local Mozilla communities."

Alcatel Orange Klif 3G specs and features

The Firefox OS will be running Alcatel's Orange Klif 3G, which is reportedly exclusive to Orange. The phone has the following specifications:

Mozilla's OS was previously made "available through MTN on the Alcatel Onetouch Fire E device."

President of Mozilla Li Gong reportedly said, "We built Firefox OS as part of Mozilla's mission to put the power of the Web in people's hands. We are excited to see MTN launching the first Firefox OS devices in South Africa, enabling millions more people to access the mobile Web at an affordable cost."

This made South Africa as the first African region to have the Firefox device.
