By now, delays of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA update would have caused many Nexus 9 users to express confusion - if not utter disgust and frustration. While last look says Nexus 9 is an official part of the Google Android family, being the product of a joint venture of Google and HTC, the flagships product's situation seem to show otherwise, and is truly getting embarrassing day by day. Every other product in Google's line is already boasting the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA update. Everybody but Nexus 9.
Recently however, an Android engineering program manager working at Google, Sascha Prüter gave timely insight that should shed light on the whole waiting game and the state of suspended animation. Specifically, he (Sascha's a man) said Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA updates for the Nexus 9 "aren't far out." In a way, giving hope to Nexus 9 hopefuls who could be looking at the whole hazy set-up right now with an extremely critical eye.
Straightforwardly, Prüter admits his work is not directly involved in the arguably ill-fated tablet. But his confirmation lets out on one nitty-gritty detail.
"I don't know the timeline (because I'm not directly working on the N9) so saying anything would be speculative and not helpful at all," he detailed. "The team is battling with some last-minute bugs and once these are addressed we will roll the update out as fast as possible."
That should be telling enough.
And timely enough. As another report weeks ago dashed the hopes of Nexus 9 fans - stirring confusion into the situation even more. In a surprise discovery, Google's Android Audio Latency information page revealed current Android 5.1.1 projects were ongoing for the Nexus 9 and the Nexus 7 Wi-Fi version, as reported by Tech Times.
Much to the dismay of the already-disgruntled Nexus 9 fans, no Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA updates followed days after. Instead, it was revealed that Google targeted Android 5.1.1 updates for the Nexus Player first - with no word on the Nexus 9.
So there you go, folks. The waiting game is still on. All the insider information points to one directions but in Google fashion, specifics on the exact date of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA updates for the Nexus 9 are still hanging in the air.
