Star Wars: Battlefront Gets More Than Twelve Maps; EA Stocks Faring Well Amidst Shaky Q1 2015 Start

By

EA finally confirms that Star Wars: Battlefront will get twelve maps on release and additional maps with the "Battle of Jakku" DLC. The news barely dents the controversial allegations showered on to the company's DLC-making intentions, but EA stocks surprisingly fares well.

Star Wars: Battlefront developer, EA DICE confirms anxious fans that the main multiplayer maps available on launch is twelve. The complete list of maps is not yet released but EA reveals that it includes Endor, Hoth and Sullust. Fans are also reminded that the game's co-op play and the announced Battle of Jakku DLC have different maps adding more "things" to the game. Slowly, the seemingly content vacuum is slowly being filled up as launch date approaches.

EA also timingly confirms that the TIE fighters over Sollust image, which is posted on the game's official website is indeed a screenshot. The image stunningly shows how Sollust looks, especially as the planet was not featured in any of the Star Wars movies. The EA team needed to fly off to Iceland just to get material to create this fictional world out from a few references of it in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. However, if basing only on the image, fans can easily say that the gameplay experience, if gamers will get what they see, is truly amazing.

However, the big news is how EA, even after such a rocky 2015 start, is actually getting more money. EA stocks is currently rising, owing its upward trend to highly anticipated games notably, Star Wars: Battlefront, Titanfall 2, Mirror's Edge 2, Mass Effect 4 and an unnamed Star Wars game. Though Battlefield: Hardline was not a spectacular success EA intended it to be, it was still enough to start the ball rolling towards EA's favour.

According to EA CEO, Andrew Wilson as covered by Gamespot, they are "very happy" with the sales they got from Battlefield: Hardline. Though reviews for the game is not outstanding, the monumental effort EA has invested on marketing the game paid off. EA said that 80% of Hardline profits came through PS4 and Xbox One sales, though DLCs and expansion packs will continue to ensure EA will maximize their profit over the game. EA didn't reveal sales information, however it is enough to double company stock prices before mid 2015.
