The Joker easily pops in one's mind when asked about a superhero villain that is so good at being bad. Currently, Jared Leto is making a buzz due to his Joker transformation but before he appears as the new Clown Prince of Crime in the big screen, let's take a look at some of the most iconic performances of the Joker in different media.
Heath Ledger
It is safe to say that Heath Ledger's Joker in "The Dark Knight" has equaled those who have preceded him. Some wonders however, if his performance would stick to almost every Joker fan had it not been his final role. Iconic enough or not, his "Why so serious" question in the movie had probably become the question of the year.
Cesar Romero
Joker is a funny man but his audience knows that his humor could be really dark as his past. That is not the case in Cesar Romero' portrayal in the 1960's "Batman" TV series. Romero's Joker was not as terrifying compared to the other Jokers and that mainly is the reason why his performance was memorable. His laugh and facial expressions perfectly fit the family-friendly them of the television series.
Jack Nicholson
Nicholson's performance of the Ace of Knaves seemed so natural. It was instantly included in The Joker history book since Tim Burton's 1989 "Batman" film was a serious take compared to all the previous ones at that point. The fact that Nicholson was also a huge star back then helped the "Batman" fans remember his performance.
Mark Hamill
Hamill's portrayal of The Joker is considered to be the most iconic of them all. His deep understanding of the character has helped him perform as the Clown Prince of Crime in various media adaptation of "Batman." Hamill's maniacal laugh and enthusiasm as The Joker in "Batman: The Animated Series" were so memorable that he was even tapped to share his voice for hit video games "Batman: Arkham Asylum" and "Arkham City."No one thought that Luke Skywalker could be that good at being a villain.
