CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt continues to hype fans of the series with a new, gory trailer before its much awaited May 19 release date. The game franchise is hailed as one of the best, open-world fantasy RPGs and many have high hopes on the gameplay content of this third instalment.
A new Witcher 3 trailer was released and it showed a vibrant world filled with diverse monsters, but the shocking highlight was its graphic decapitations and amputations that really added the violence of the game. There had been issues before about the medical inaccuracies of decapitations, but CD Projekt Red cites artistic licenses as passes.
CD Projekt Red ensured that The Witcher 3 Wild hunt will indeed have a matured rating as violence, vulgarity and sexual interactions are increased. The game will have multiple interaction options, which include getting drunk in a bar, killing off undesirables at a whim and engaging in sex with prostitutes and female companions. Though the game will have a more expansive world to explore, the increased small interactions are what makes the Witcher 3 much richer.
The game also features a new playable female character named Ciri, who is Geralt's apprentice. Though CD Projekt Red revealed that gamers couldn't change characters at will, there will be points in the game where character switches will occur. The game developer said through IGN that, Ciri is a narrative tool to give depth to the story as it gives players another perspective of the Witcher world.
CD Projekt Red not only aims to create a living, breathing world, but a world accessible to all of its fans. The game company assures gamers that the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt will not be as hardware intensive as other triple A games set for release.
The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt release date is on May 19 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
