"Bill and Ted 3" star Alex Winter has once again been asked about the sequel of "Bill and Ted: Bogus Journey" that had last grazed theaters back in 1991.
This is not the first or the second time the actor-turned-director has been bugged about the long overdue series. However, Winter denied getting tired of hearing repeated questions about it. "We're trying to get the movie made, so how could we be sick of it?"
This time around, "Bill and Ted 3" might really be nearing the greenlight to start with filming. "We're producing it and we're actively trying to get it made. We're not tired of it, but I think for our fans, we are eager to stop talking and actually shoot the damn thing," Winter tells Yahoo! Movie at an interview.
"We're a little closer. We're a little closer" Keanu Reeves, the other half in the movie, explains during the launching of his new film John Wick, triggering a severe sense of déjà vu since he also made the same statement almost a year ago. "There's now talk of contracts and maybe paying the writers to go and write. There might be some support for making the picture."
Factors that take part in the launching of the production for the said comedy sequel are cost and the target audience. Keanu Reeves previously confessed his fear of the movie not appealing to the international moviegoers that has become an important participant in today's Hollywood.
"It didn't help that the first script that they brought in was probably budgeted at $150 million dollars. I don't know if Bill & Ted carry that much weight. Part of the argument is that it's not that popular internationally, that's where so much of the funding for movies comes from these days. They've worked on the script and the budget, just trying to get the right script and then get the business side wrapped up, financiers and rights, all the show business stuff."
Aside from the funding issues, the people involved in the movie are virtually all good to go. Dean Parisot of "Galaxy Quest" is still interested in directing, and the original writers and creators Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon had the script written.
The lead stars Alex Winter (Bill) and Keanu Reeves (Ted), who became good friends since then and are working with each other with most recently being Reeves narrating Winter's "Deep Web", are both signed to reprise their respective roles for the unbelievably hilarious installment of "Bill and Ted 3" after 25 years.
