Beloved game franchise gets a star-studded movie in Ratchet and Clank Movie. The CG-animation is set to release locally next year, but that's not all. Game developers over at Insomniac Games are also hard at work at a re-imagination of Ratchet and Clank for PlayStation 4.
The movie version of Ratchet and Clank was initially announced at last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) and just yesterday, the star-studded cast was announced. The CG-animation is based on a popular computer game of the same name, and the movie will utilize an original story penned by Insomniac Games writer T.J. Fixman.
The film will be an origin story, following the events of how Ratchet and Clank met each other. The plot will show Chairman Drek and the Blarg try to destroy the Solana Galaxy but Ratchet and Clank come to the rescue as they attempt to thwart the attack and save the galaxy. The movie will also be introducing Doctor Nefarious and the Galactic Rangers.
As confirmed yesterday by an official announcement, the star-studded voice cast will be headed by Paul Giamatti as Chairman Drek, John Goodman as Grimroth, Rosario Dawson as Elaris, Sylvester Stallone as Victor, Armin Shimerman as Doctor Nefarious, Bella Thome as Cora, Michael Bell as Lawrence, Alessandro Juliani as Stig, and Lee Tockar as Mr. Micron. Of course, the voice talents behind the lead roles will be the same cast as the ones in the game, so fans will hear familiar voices. James Arnold Taylor as Ratchet, David Kaye, as Clark, and Jim Ward as Captain Qwark.
Along with this announcement, it is also confirmed that developers over at Insomniac Games are hard at work for a re-imagination of the game which they are planning to release on PlayStation 4 (PS4). No release date has been announced yet, but it is confirmed that it will tie closely with the movie plot. Classic locales in the game will be re-imagined and given a more modern look, new levels and weapons, as well as better visuals.
Ratchet and Clank Movie is set to be released on April 29, 2016, with the PS4 game to follow shortly.
