Android 5.1.1 updates were expected to hit Sony Xperia Z3 (model code D66030), Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 very soon. The upgrade would bring notable changes such as new animations, improved Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings, fixes on camera timeouts, and many more.

U.S. Carrier Sprint would also be releasing the Android 5.1.1 update for LG Nexus 5.

A YouTube video recently showed a Sony Xperia Z3, with model code D6603, allegedly running an Android 5.1.1. This implied that a Lollipop upgrade is finally coming to the Z3 device. The indicated model code was an unlocked version of the handset, which had no ties with carriers and was rolled out to various regions.

The video showed some key improvements that owners of Xperia Z3 could expect once the Android 5.1.1 hits their units. The most significant change that the upgrade brought was the animations that happen after the user touches or taps certain quick settings. Upon touching the commands for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, a new and livelier animation happens during the open and close actions.

A little arrow would also be seen indicating the extra menu when opening settings menu for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Once a user taps to open it instead of exiting out of the actual settings menu, it opens up a new page of the quick settings panel, which was not present with the Xperia Z3 running an Android 5.0.2.

An Android 5.1.1 update is also expected to hit Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 very soon as it is being pushed to owners in phases. The upgrade would bring fixes on bug issues, camera timeout on Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 devuces, improvements on Chromecast, and security issues.

Currently, the 5.1.1 OTA update is available for the Wi-Fi Nexus 7 2012 and 2013 versions, Nexus 9, and Nexus 10 as well as factory images for the corresponding devices. U.S. carrier Sprint also announced that they are going to roll out an Android 5.1.1 update for LG Nexus 5 devices with build version LMY48B.

The upgrade would mainly bring in security enhancements in the unit. Further, it was noted that the update may be released in stages and could take many days to arrive.
