Natalie Portman will star in the French horror flick "Planetarium" opposite Lily Rose Depp, daughter of Johnny Depp. The two play as sisters who have the ability to connect with ghosts in a film that will be directed by Rebecca Zlotowski.
After sitting on the director chair in "A Tale of Love and Darkness" Natalie Portman will lead a period horror drama along with Lily Rose Depp. Set in 1930s France, the film will center on two spiritualist sisters that can communicate with ghosts, who will meet a French producer in Paris during their performance.
"Planetarium" will also tackle some political subtext relative to modern extremist issues in Europe as the films' French producer is inspired by '20s and '30s Jewish producer Bernard Natan. The movie's script is co-wrote by Zlotowski and Robin Campillo and filming will start in September for a May 2016 release.
This will be Natalie Portman's second collaboration with a French director in more than two decades of her acting career. Portman first worked with French helmer Luc Besson for the 1994 movie "Leon," whom she played the role of an orphan child who befriends a middle-aged hitman.
Portman has her hands full with plenty of film commitments. The award-winning actress is also attached with the biopic "On the Basis of Sex," to play a young Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
It was also speculated that the two-time Golden Globe awardee will become the "Female Thor" following Marvel's reveal that Dr. Jane Foster has picked up the Mjolnir in the comics. Portman has played Jane Foster in the two movie translation of "Thor" in 2011 and 2013. Marvel is yet to make an announcement about Portman donning the red cape and Viking helm.
As of now, Natalie Portman's official movie projects are "Planetarium," where she plays a spiritualist in Europe with her sister played by Lily Rose Depp, and "On the Basis of Sex," where she will be the young Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
