It is highly probable that the price of the iPhone 6s, or iPhone 7, could be increased this year once the device gets released on September. Two specifications are being considered to be "price factors" of the device. Once implemented, Apple might break profit records.
Though Apple sells products that carry price tags that are above average than their competitors, the company still manages to create a degree of influence in the market. Hence, the company is unafraid to release an iPhone 6s, or iPhone 7 (depending on which would come first), even with increased price if Apple decides to do it. And it seems that this might be the trend as recent rumors point to an iPhone version sporting killer and "deluxe" specifications and features.
Tim Cook decides the final price, and it's up to buyers whether they would pay for them or not. So, how much would Apple charge for an iPhone 6s or iPhone 7?
Other reports suggest that the "base models of the iPhone 7 or iPhone 6s will retain their pricing from the previous generation." But what could increase the Average Selling Price for the iPhone are the "options that Apple intends to offer," and in the previous year Apple was able to increase that number significantly by "adding the iPhone 6 Plus to its line up."
As tipped by KGI Securities Ming-Chi Kuo, a Plus version would be coming out in this year, either iPhone 6s Plus or iPhone 7 Plus. One way that Apple could increase the average price is by "boosting available memory." The iPhone 6 came out with a maximum 128 GB memory, and rumors indicate the iPhone 7 or iPhone 6s may have a maximum of 256 GB. An added memory would mean an "added price," and Apple normally charges each memory upgrade for $100.
On top of that, rumors point to a new rose-gold iPhone, similar to the Apple Watch. If this turns out true, a gold iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 would cost $10,000 or more. This is quite a heavy price to pay for average customers, but Apple could make "intermediate steps" to convince buyers to spend their money for it, especially that customization with Apple Watch was very successful.
The specs and features of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 would greatly influence the average selling price. In fact, a price increase might be ahead this year.
For the release date, the iPhone 6s, or iPhone 7, is slated for a September 2015 roll out.
