"Game of Thrones" is already catching up to George RR Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire." This has led many book readers disappointed now that the series will spoil the ending before readers get the chance to read it in print. Martin promised fans that there is a major plot twist on a character in "The Winds of Winter," which will never make it to the HBO series.
"A Song of Ice and Fire" fans have something to rejoice about despite the fact that "Game of Thrones" will spoil the ending and who ends up with the Iron Throne for book readers. George R.R. Martin revealed to EW that he has come up with a "big, revealing twist on a long-time character;" a plot twist, which he has never thought of before.
This major plot twist, which he said will "drive your readers crazy," will not make it to the HBO fantasy drama. According to Martin, this twist will not be shown in the series, as the show and its creators have already done a couple of things to this certain character (which remains a mystery). While book readers are anticipating for this major plot twist on a certain character, Martin expressed that he is still weighing his options on whether or not he will go in that direction.
"It's a great twist. It's easy to do things that are shocking or unexpected, but they have to grow out of characters," he teased.
This statement has led many fans to speculate on which character Martin was referencing on. Some believe that it could be one of the characters, which died on the series, but made it out alive in the books. This is where Martin's "Butterfly Effect" could come in, which GOT writer/producer Bryan Cogman admitted to Vulture that killing off one character could change the entire storyline.
Meanwhile, George RR Martin promised that Book Six, "The Winds of Winter" will be released before "Game of Thrones" Season 6 premieres. The 66-year-old author said that he has already cancelled appearances for two conventions and has turned down interviews in order to finish writing the book on time.
