"Penny Dreadful" Season 2 Update: "The Nightcomers" Will Reveal Vanessa's Past And Ethan Chandler Will Discover His Inner Monster

The Showtime hit series "Penny Dreadful" is already on its second season and according to reports, the upcoming episodes following the first episode entitled "Fresh Hell" will be about Vanessa Ives' past and Ethan Chandler's discovery of his inner monster.

According to an interview with Helen McCrory, the head witch named Madame Kali, she will be hunting Vanessa and her friends for the second season of "Penny Dreadful." She shared that she will be one of those who are battling for Vanessa's soul who are also within an occult and witchcraft.

McCrory pointed out that as the episodes progress, the past of Vanessa will be revealed and that the fans of the show will discover that she and Madame Kali have met before and they have things in common. She added, "We just have chosen different paths. We both try to struggle to get the other one onto their path. Her intentions will be revealed to the other characters much more slowly."

The episode that aired on May 17, Sunday, which was entitled "The Nightcomers" actually revealed more of what McCrory revealed as it showed a flashback of when Madame Kali and Vanessa met. A new character was also introduced who is the Cut-Wife played by Patti LuPone who trained her regarding her powers and how to use them properly.

As for Ethan, Josh Hartnett, the creator of the show, pointed out that this character unwillingly becoming a wolf man is something he cannot do anything about. Hartnett pointed out that season 2 will reveal more of this wolf man character and will be based on New Mexico and Native American traditions.
