"Mad Men's" season finale episode entitled "Person to Person" was dubbed as the end of an era and it focused on ending the role of Don Draper, the alpha male's story, with a surprise towards the end.

"Mad Men" is one of AMC's best T.V. series and as it ended on Sunday, fans were treated to a surprising ending. In an interview with the creator of the show, Matthew Weiner, months before the final episode was aired, he noted that the last frame will be a whole new story but no new mystery to be solved.

The final episode showed Don Draper, played by Jon Hamm, racing a muscle car in the desert to Peggy Olson as they confess their love for each other after years of working together. The episode lasted for one hour and 15 minutes. Aside from the confession, Draper also had a lot of surprising gestures and decisions in the recent previous episodes.

At one point, Draper walked out of a meeting regarding the advertising world and left NYC to head to the West although his exact whereabouts were unknown. Aside from that, he also knew that his ex-wife, Betty, was dying of lung cancer and she was given only one year to live. In the last episode, Draper and his daughter Sally fought over what to do and where she and her siblings would live.

The ending of the series finale showed Draper riding off into the sunset as he gazed out soulfully at the ocean.

Hamm also gave a statement regarding the ending of the era and said: "There's no version of this ending that is not super-painful for me mostly because of these people and this person. They've been the single constant in my creative life for the last decade. That's kind of tough."

"Mad Men" started back in 2007 and lasted for seven seasons. What do you think about the ending of the acclaimed series and did you love it or hate it? Let us know in the comments below!
