Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice to include infamous DC universe villain in Doomsday

By

Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice will feature one of the most infamous villains to ever set foot within the comic book universe, as Doomsday is now set to be a part of the movie.

Doomsday's addition to the film was announced by journalist Umberto Gonzalez.

Doomsday is not the lone villain in the film, as Lex Luthor has already been tabbed to be the movie's main antagonist, according to Cinema Blend.

The hulking Doomsday will act as the muscle behind the evil tandem he forms alongside Luthor, said Gonzalez. The two of them are expected to wreak tons of havoc in the film, especially during the times when Batman and Superman aren't going at each other.

While the role of Lex Luthor is being played by Jesse Eisenberg, it's still unclear who will be portraying Doomsday. According to Comic Book, Doomsday will be appearing onscreen courtesy of both practical and computer effects. This could mean that whoever is chosen to play Doomsday will only have to provide the menacing and fearsome voice behind the monstrous villain.

Doomsday being added to the film is signficant mainly because he is the man who killed Superman in the comic books. If the movie has designs on following that path, his inclusion in the film would then be necessary.

Of course, Doomsday also dies in his fateful battle with Superman, so that would be an interesting wrinkle to the film if they chose to continue with that storyline.

It's worth noting that the appearance of Doomsday will not automatically mean that the Man of Steel is destined for an imminent cinematic death. According to the Huffington Post, Doomsday's appearance on the TV show, Smallville, did not lead to the Superman in that series dying at his monstrous hands.

Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice will premiere on March 23, 2016.
