Battlefield 4 Latest Update: Spring Patch Includes New Guns and Gun Master Mode; Balance overhaul may surprise players

By

DICE's Battlefield 4 is having a Spring patch expected to go live late May across all platforms. It is expected to see the patch go live later this month with the return of Gun Master game mode, as well as a bevy of new guns, balance tweaks, and fixing the netcode of the PC.

According to the official Battlefield blog, the update will include the fan favorite assault rifle, what the actual model of the rifle is still unknown. The only hint DICE gave is the assault rifle having a unique burst and the model being revered by the fans.

The Spring patch for Battlefield 4 will also include a new carbine bullpup with a built-In vertical grip, a silenced PDW, a "sniper" pistol akin to being a magnum with its firepower, and the magazine-fed light machinegun with a "run-and-gun" style.

Along with the new weapons, there are also complete balance overhaul. Battlefield 4 players can now expect adjustments to weapon damage, falloff damage, and also suppression. Recoil is also increased, and 2-hit kill headshots in specific weapons will increase in success rate.

DICE also stated that their goal with the update is to create distinct roles for the weapon classes. Gun Master mode is a game mode that originally appeared in Battlefield 3: Close Quarters. This allows constant switches to weapons as the player gains kills. The PC version of the game is also not being patched to become more stable, and the online play should be expected to be a lot smoother.

Battlefield 4 is a first-person shooter developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts. The game sold over 7 million copies across PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. The Spring patch is expected to go live in all platforms by the end of this month, or the first week of June.
