OnePlus One Battery Drain Due to CM12.1 Touch Screen Fix; Unboxed OnePlus One Released in India

By

OnePlus seem to have become one of the noisiest smart phone manufacturers up to date. Regardless of the issues that it had encountered with its previous partner, Cyanogen, OnePlus continues to make a name in the market and in the media with positive feedbacks from users since it had made itself affordable - half of the price of its competitors. The release of its flagship killer, OnePlus One, whose unboxed versions are now available in India, had brought the attention to the Chinese smart phone manufacturing company. However, recently, many issues rose and were luckily fixed by the company through the CM12.1 roll-out. But lately, another issue seems to have taken its toll on the users, and that is the battery drain brought by the CM12.1 Touch Screen fix.

It has been a couple of weeks when many users have reported the issue with OnePlus One's touch screen display. The company had then released a statement claiming that they would fix the issue through Synaptics (the company that develops human interface solutions based on touch, display and biometrics technology). And OnePlus had indeed addressed the issue with the fix provided by the CM12.1.

However, like any other software update that fixes bugs, the CM12.1 had brought with it some bugs as well. Yes, it was able to fix the touch screen display issue which freezes or sometimes has the tendency to ghost swipe but it did put a toll on the phone's battery.

"Initial testing indicates it might be the touchscreen firmware itself causing the initial drain. More testing is needed to be certain, but I tried this and was still seeing the increased drain, even on the previous nightly and firmware with the new touchscreen drivers." According to a post by an XDA developer.

OnePlus had better find a fix to this problem since it had now made its OnePlus One available even without invite. It is even expanding its horizon by putting on sale the unboxed (units whose boxes were opened but not used) units of the OnePlus One in India. According to the report, the smart phone will be sold for Rs. 16.999 on May 20.

OnePlus definitely has upped its performance in the market and gained the attention of many thus expectations for the OnePlus Two is high. But for the fans, the Chinese smart phone manufacturer should focus on improving its flagship mobile by fixing the issues to attract more users.
