Production for "The Crow" remake is ongoing, albeit very slowly. Recent progress involves the inclusion of actress Andrea Riseborough in the film to play the main villain, Top Dollar. Riseborough shares the victory with "Birdman" actors when the film won Best Picture in the Oscars.
Andrea Riseborough was tapped by Relativity Studios to play star in the remake of the fantasy classic "The Crow." According to reports, the "Birdman" actress is currently in negotiations with the studio to play Top Dollar, the movie's main antagonist.
In the 1994 film, Top Dollar is played by Michael Wincott and led the criminal syndicate that tortured and killed the girlfriend of former rock star Eric Draven. Draven came back to life through a mystic bird and since then has only one mission in his mind: to hunt Top Dollar and his men to avenge his beau.
Relativity Studios' decision to cast Riseborough to play a character in The Crow remake, which is originally portrayed by a male actor, will surely create a buzz and promote the reboot. Andrea Riseborough also has a good recall to the audience as she recently appeared in the 2015 Oscars Best Picture "Birdman (or the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)."
Riseborough also starred opposite Tom Cruise in Joseph Kosinski's 2013 film "Oblivion." Aside from "The Crow," the 33-year-old actress is currently doing the upcoming thriller "Hidden," directed by Matt and Ross Duffer.
Previously, "Boardwalk Empire" star Jack Huston was picked to play Eric Draven. The character is Brandon Lee's last movie role after he was accidentally killed while filming the 1994 pic. Corin Hardy will helm the remake while Claire Wilson pens the script based on James O'Barr's graphic novel.
"Birdman" actress Andrea Riseborough will star in Corin Hardy's remake of "The Crow." She will portray Top Dollar, the leader of the criminal syndicate that killed Eric Draven's girlfriend. The actress stars alongside "Boardwalk Empire"'s Jack Huston. Relativity Media has not yet announced the movie's date release.
