With the success of their very first self-titled LP, the Australian pop-rock band 5 Seconds of Summer is making certain that their upcoming record would be a smashing hit as they lately announced that they are working with the members of the rock band Good Charlotte and with Nikki Sixx from the heavy metal band Motley Crue. But it looks like there will be a glitch in the marketing process as the official logo of 5SOS has been changed due to a copyright lawsuit.
It was this last March that the band told Billboard about their progress with the album. According to Michael Clifford, the band's guitarist, the project is already close to completion, though no exact release date has been announced yet. He also told that the writing process has been already done and they are currently recording the tracks. Clifford also hinted that it may be out at the middle of their tour or at the end of it. Considering their "Rock Out With Your Socks Out" tour will end in September, the new record will most likely to be out in fall.
And speaking with the writing process, the band got helping hands with the twins Joel and Benji Madden from the band Good Charlotte in co-writing some tracks in this new material. And don't be dubious because in 5SOS' self-titled album last year, the brothers even penned the hit single "Amnesia."
Moreover, 5SOS also teamed up with bassist Nikki Sixx from the LA-based band Motley Crue. The rock veteran even revealed the news on Twitter himself gushing about the collaboration. Since Motley Crue is finally seeing its better days, Sixx wanted to help bands from the younger generations. With all these help from the veterans, 5 Seconds of Summer would no doubt be hitting it big this year, presumably.
Now, tracking the band's progress, the quartet recently debuted a brand new song during their concert in Lisbon, Portugal. The track's title "Permanent Vacation" is believed to be off from their new untitled album.
5 Seconds of Summer Changes Logo from Tally Mark to Skulls after Copyright Complaint
Meanwhile, the promotion of the new album might have a little glitch as the band recently re-designed its logo after a shop named "Undefeated" sued the Aussie boys for copying the establishment's logo. As previously seen in posters, albums, and advertisements, 5 Seconds of Summer's emblem looks like a tally mark. However, the "Undefeated" shop also has this one.
Despite some legal actions, the band made a switch to a new logo. The marketing team created an emblem that caters to the younger and female audiences: a skull with hearts for eyes. However, fans aren't happy about the outcome of this circumstance and the band's new logo.
5 Seconds of Summer consists of Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood, and Ashton Irwin. Very well? Are you hyped to listen to the band's new material? Do you think they would surpass the success of their previous LPs? And, do you love the new logo? Sound off your views on the comments section.
