Bloodborne Patch 1.04 Out on 25 May; Improves Chalice Dungeons, Ups Bullet and Vial Storage to 600; Expansion Confirmed by Sony Exec

Bloodborne players can expect a new patch for the game, 1.04, on 25 May which will address remaining bugs that have yet to be fixed. They can also expect an expansion some time later this year.

No less than game producer Masaaki Yamigawa confirmed this via Twitter, that the "DLC is currently under production" and that the team is "expected to deliver an update 1.04 on 5/25."

The following issues were fixed and some improvements were introduced, such as:

  • Password matching can now be done regardless of level, and even if registered to a different oath
  • Quicksilver bullets and blood vials storage limit is now up from 99 to 600 in Hunter's Dream storage
  • Weapons and hunter tools have been tweaked, it will be mostly buffs
  • The Rifle Spear bug has been fixed
  • Blood Gem Imprints bug has been fixed
  • Boss rewards in the Chalice Dungeons will now drop blood gems randomly
  • Chalice Dungeons will now include Blood Stone Shards at Depth 1, Twin Blood Stone Shards at Depth 2, Twin Blood Stone Shards and Blood Stone Chunks at Depth 3, Blood Stone Chunks at Depth 4 and Blood Stone Chunks and Blood Rocks at Depth 5

The previous 2.7GB patch reduced loading times by five to 15 seconds. Hunter's Dream now loads in 10 seconds while respawning and accessing new areas now take about 15 seconds and 35 seconds, respectively. Also addressed then were some other bugs, like lifts not functioning, NPC (non-player character) events not triggering, and some bosses not responding (stuck in place, that is).

Meanwhile, Sony's Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida confirmed an expansion is being worked on for Bloodborne. While he did not divulge more information, it is speculated that there could be more details about this at the upcoming 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo on 16-18 June in Los Angeles. Bloodborne now enjoys a surprising financial success, and exceeded the expectations of both the game makers and the players.

Bloodborne was released last March by From Software. This Playstation-exclusive action-adventure game takes place in a decrepit Gothic city Yharnam, known for its medical advances using blood as their primary tool. The player journeys to Yharnam seeking the Paleblood for unknown reasons. The city, however, is plagued with an endemic illness transformed its citizens into bestial creatures. The player then tries to survive and uncover the inner workings of the city.
