'Mad Max: Fury Road' and 'Mario Kart' combine in incredible mash-up video; Tom Hardy becomes Mario, fights real-life Chain Chomps

Mad Max: Fury Road is everyone's favorite film right now (a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, plus every film lover alive chanting its name in the streets). But someone's found a way to make Mad Max: Fury Road even more beloved- by combining it with Mario Kart. Youtube user sundbergkr (real name Kris Sundberg, a filmmaker out of Los Angeles) edited together a Mad Max: Fury Road/Mario Kart Mashup titled Mario Kart: Fury Road, and it's as amazing as it sounds.

The video is a Mad Max: Fury Road trailer that's had little bits of Mario Kart edited in. Some of them are obvious- for one shot of a car crash, the video shows a blue shell flying in right beforehand, and slamming into the car just as it explodes. Some of them are a little more on the subtle side- as a soldier leaps from one car to another, grasping an explosive javelin in each hand, the tip of each javelin has been turned into a Bob-Omb. All the edits, of course, are incredibly well-done. There's the one seen above, where the brand pressed into Max's flesh at the beginning of the film has been swapped out with Bowser's face. Looks totally realistic, doesn't it?

In other Mario Kart news, it's recently been announced that Mario Kart 8 has quite a few new DLC packs on the way. Previous Mario Kart 8 DLC introduced characters and items from Legend of Zelda (and then Animal Crossing) into the game; the next installment might open the door for Metroid, Starfox, F-Zero or any other Nintendo franchise's characters to strap into a kart and blast Mario and friends with shells galore (and actually, a Mad Max: Fury Road DLC update would be the greatest thing ever).
